Bradford University - case study

Re:centre is an exciting and dynamic space at the heart of the University of Bradford’s City Campus. The £6m centre, which is home to small businesses and business students, is designed to make peoplere-think business, re-think resources and re-think the future. In line with its ecological beliefs, the centre is committed to the Circular Economy model, where all materials are chosen and products designed, for their ability to be re-used and re-manufactured.

The background:

For the past two years, our teams have been using the Circular Economy model which links to their own waste free design framework known as Cradle-to-Cradle, so it was paramount that the choice of materials should reflect this commitment to environmentally friendly products. The  design of the layout also needed to reflect and encourage the re:centre’s philosophy of creating ideas through collaboration, which we solved by designing a mixture of open and private working spaces.

The solution:

We provided Media:Scape, Cobi chairs, B-Free benches and stools, meeting tables,  storage and the iconic Share It with Froufrou, which completed the project making it a beautiful innovative and functional showcase for business in Bradford.
